Luckily, though, today, we got rather more than ten cents.  It is the first snow of the year!  And what a snow.  I awoke this morning to a veritable blizzard going on outside, and never mind the cold and the wet and the fact that it makes getting around via public transportation as I do a bitch, I am as giddily gleeful as a child over it.  It just makes me want to go outside and roll around and build snow forts and throw snowballs at people.  I do not know that that particular urge will ever die, no-matter how old I get.

Hanyway!  I promised the lovely [livejournal.com profile] earlwyn  some weeks ago that I would take pictures when we got some snow, so she could show her Britlander pals and laugh at their paltry experience with snow, because she, like I, is a hardy Minnesotan.  So!  Snow!  I was at work for the majority of today, but I snapped a few shots both on my way there and my way back.

I feel like adapting the words of 'Food, Glorious Food' into a song about snow. Which is possibly a little sad. )

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Look at that, all colourful and full of holiday cheer and Christmas spirit, etc etc.  I am positively brimming over with it.

It's certainly the weather for it, in any event.  It's been snowing since... oh, Wednesday evening, and I think we've accumulated about two feet since then.  Ridiculous, and it makes the roads hell, by all accounts, but bloody gorgeous, and I am nothing if not an aesthete.  It's snowing right now- of course it is- and it's snow like you see in the movies and all- thick and heavy and wet, swirling through the air, huge clumps of snowflakes that actually make a little noise when they hit the ground.  Just the softest of soft impacts against the heaps and billows of snow everywhere.  Looking out my window, it's like the only colours in the world are white and brown and green.

The AO3 is acting up, so I cannae see my Yuletide fic!  Rawr.  Personally, I don't see why they couldn't have just used the Yuletide archive as they've done in years past.  I mean, I get how the AO3 is a good thing, but it's still in beta, and prone to occasionally be a bit fussy, so hosting something huge like Yuletide on it seems a little backwards.  Especially when- as I'd wager is what's happened now- there's just so much going on there that's it's frozen up completely.

I adore rain, I really do, but it makes it damn hard to get out of bed some days.  It's been overcast and rainy for the past few days, and this morning, my alarm went off, and I had to exert the most colossal effort of will to roll myself out of bed.  It was a struggle of Herculean will.

*sigh*  I cannot wait for the semester to be over.  I just really need a fucking change of scenery.

I'm depressed, I'm sleeping through classes and staying up all night, I'm hardly talking to people except online, I don't do anything except online.  Not good.  This is not good, but I can't bring myself to fix it.  FUCKING HELL.

*flails*

I'm going home for Thanksgiving break this week, and I'm just really tempted to stay there.  I do not want to be here anymore; I need the city, I need people.

And it's fucking cold out.  Really horrible, horrible cold that cuts to the bone and means you can't walk bloody anywhere.  Which is rubbish if you're like me and can't drive, and therefore have to walk everywhere.

IT'S SNOWING!

FUCK YES, MOTHERBITCHES!  First snow of the year.  Eeeeheehee; this is an event that never fails to fill me with glee.  And it's actually sticking, as well; the trees and the grass and the pavement.  I doubt it'll stay long; everything's already soaking wet, as it's been raining all day, but still!  I have to go out now and enjoy this.

Snow?  Wtf?  It's bloody April, and yet it's sodding blizzarding outside!  Grey and wet and windy and huge fuck-off flakes of the stuff.  Not that I've anything against weather of this variety, quite the contrary, but one can't help feeling that it's a bit unseasonal, what?

In other words, this is me looking at whatever deity is in charge of weather for Morris and telling them to bugger off, if they'd be so kind.

It's warm!

It's sunny!

The snow is practically all melted, and I walked around barefoot in the mud and the sun and the birds singing like the lovely cliche they are, and I am happy.   I have David Bowie on my Zune, and Life on Mars on my computer, and my feet are wonderful and muddy, and I am reminded (as I am every year) of the phrase 'Mad as a March Hare.'  Except that in this instance, it's an April hare, because the weather here is schizophrenic.

Of course, I'm a week late in signing up for housing for next year, and I've a paper to write and job applications to catch up on, but right now I am so absurdly and illogically happy that even those unpleasant realities have yet to hit home properly.

Also- look, I am Sam.

This only illustrates my apparent lack of ability to allow any character I play to be straight.  There's always, always poufiness lurking somewhere in the wings, just waiting for me to take it and write embarrassingly smutty rp.   But really, I'm a slasher.   It's in my instinct.  And it's not my fault I've a brilliant Gene who's also a slasher.  If I had an Annie, I'd rp Sam with her, but I haven't!  *shrugs*  Eh.  What can I say, I likes teh massive gheyism too much.

Let me reiterate, because I find it necessary:

It is warm and sunny and SPRING!

I love Latin.  Really, I do.  I wish Morris offered Latin classes; I would be all over that like a hot flannel if they did.  But, alas.

It is really incredibly gorgeous out today.  By which I mean it is grey and snowy and slushy and things are quite melty and a bit nasty to the bottom six inches or so of one's trousers, but it's warm!!  It is above zero!  I went for a walk for a good two hours and was quite comfortable with my coat open and my scarf hanging loose.  Oh, it's fantastic.  What a marvellous concept, warmth.

I skipped both my lectures today.  Oh well.  One of them's  a massive bloody one, so no-one notices you're there anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

My voice is irritating me- I just wish I could go a tiny, tiny bit higher.  Just a wee bit.  I ought to take voice lessons, improve my range.  It's much better than what it was, of course, but it could be a lot better.

Mmm, it smells like Autumn.  How unspeakably sublime.  Really entirely delectable.  The most wonderful weather for wandering and thinking one could ask for.  Just chill enough that one can smell the leaf-mould and crispness upon the air, and feel that slight, asthmatic catch when one breathes in too deeply.  Well, possibly that's just me.  Ah, I love this time of year...

On another note, I'm fairly convinced that I should make this my theme song:

She asked him why- why I’m a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and nighty-night-night
My hair is a fright
I'm hairy high and low
But don't ask me why,
‘Cause he don't know
It's not for lack of bread
Like the Grateful Dead, darling…

Gimme a head with hair;
Long beautiful hair,
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there- hair!
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy, daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair

I let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my hair
A home for the fleas, a hive for the buzzing bees
A nest for birds
There ain't no words
For the beauty, the splendour, the wonder
Of my...

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My hair

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy,
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy, shining,

Streaming, gleaming, flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Mangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

Oh say can you see
My eyes if you can
Then my hair's too short

Down to here
Down to there
Down to where
It stops by itself

Don’t never have to cut it ‘cause it stops by itself!

They'll be ga ga at the go go
When they see me in my toga
My toga made of blond
Brilliantined, Biblical hair

My hair like Jesus wore it
Hallelujah I adore it
Hallelujah Mary loved her son
Why don't my mother love me?

Give me down to there- hair!
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy, daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair

Long as I can grow it
